So yesterday I was feeling sick and didn't sleep very well, surprise, surprise. However at about noon I decided that the day was too gorgeous to pass up. It was 82 degrees outside, and it's the hottest it's been (for late September) in 25 years. I packed up my bag and headed out for the day. I decided to head over to Notre Dame and explore that area.
I waited in line and hiked all the way to the top overlooking the city.
It was so gorgeous and I was able to take some amazing photographs. I saw the bells, the statues, and read the history. After the long trek back down the stairs I decided to go into the cathedral. Though I've been inside before I wanted to go back with my big camera and just take some photographs since the lighting was coming through the stained glass beautifully. Unfortunately, my legs were so exhausted from all the stairs that they were shaking while I was taking pictures.
After exploring the inside of the cathedral I went out to enjoy some fresh air and just people watch.
After sitting for a while in the hot sun (mind you, I know I'm going to die going back home to Palm Springs since now I think 82 is hot) I decided to treat myself to some sorbet along the Seine river. It was gorgeous and just relaxing. I ate my ice cream and watched the tourists explore the city. I got on the metro, headed home, and couldn't wait to lay down.
Such a beautiful and productive day but very tiring. Later that night my roommates and I plus two of Mackenzie's friends went and had some bread and cheese and wine (I didn't have any because of the mono) under the Eiffel Tower. It was beautiful. We watched the light show. laughed and exchanged stories.
